My first DeviantArt submission!
This is my entry in the USA vs. the World Thunderdome versus Sapphire. The topic was "Two races forming a symbiotic rural/tribal society".
Basically the bugs attach themselves to these guys (Gwumen) when they are infants and they're joined for life. The bugs have a sac in which they can create fire, which provides the Gwumen with warmth and light. The bugs feed off of the blood and digestive gases of the Gwumen, which in turn helps the Gwumen by introducing an enzyme into their bloodstream which repairs blood cells, relieving the effects of the radiation sickness that they get from hanging around that sinister looking mountain in the background.
